1. Multi-day guided sea kayaking tours with Fiordland Wilderness Experiences
RISK INFORMATION:
In undertaking this activity, you need to be aware that sea kayaking, wilderness forest camping and associated activities have inherent risks and can be dangerous. Sea Kayaking & wilderness forest camping in Fiordland are characterised by: remoteness, rapidly changing weather & water conditions, cold water, tree/branch fall and limited kayak landing sites.
The staff and management of Fiordland Wilderness Experiences take all practicable steps to identify and minimise potential dangers; however there still remains an element of risk. You must follow the guide’s instructions and adhere to safety requirements at all times. Your guide will provide a pre trip safety briefing, paddling instruction and ongoing safety management but Fiordland Wilderness Experiences can not absolutely guarantee participants safety.
Weather could delay your scheduled return by up to 24 hours e.g. road closures, weather conditions preventing kayaking - has happened twice in 18 years in Doubtful Sound.
If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to discuss them with the person giving your pre trip meeting at base or with your guide at the end of the safety briefing.

Your guide will provide a pre trip safety briefing, paddling instruction and ongoing safety management but Fiordland Wilderness Experiences can not absolutely guarantee participants safety.

3. All guided kayaking tours with Fiordland Wilderness Experiences
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
You must indemnify Fiordland Wilderness Experiences and our staff against any liability we incur to anyone else, resulting from your failure to follow our instructions or the failure of any person accompanying you under the age of 18 to follow our instructions. We reserve the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others. We also reserve the right to cancel or modify the trip if we become concerned for any reason for your safety or that of any other person.
Warning: under New Zealand law it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to sue anyone if you are injured. New Zealand’s accident compensation scheme provides only limited assistance to visitors to New Zealand who are injured. We strongly recommend that all visitors to New Zealand have full insurance covering any injury they might suffer, including medical treatment cover, before undertaking this activity.
Exclusions: to the extent permitted by law, all liability for damage to your property, disruption to travel plans, or mental injury, is excluded. This exclusion is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Medical Release:
- I / We request Fiordland Wilderness Experiences to render first aid and seek such medical assistance or means of evacuation as they may find necessary.
- I / We undertake to pay all charges and accept all consequences that may be associated with such medical treatment or evacuation undertaken.
