Fiordland's original and most experienced sea kayaking company
We specialise in real sea kayaking, New Zealand style, in real Fiordland wilderness - Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Dusky and Breaksea Sounds, Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri.
Back in 1992, Bill Gibson and Daphne Taylor established Fiordland Wilderness Experiences, introducing sea kayaking to Fiordland and causing some beumsed reaction amongst the locals used to much bigger boats, with engines!
After 16 years, their passion and commitment to Fiordland and its wilderness have been passed on. In July 2008 they sold there business to another small local business Trips and Tramps which is a partnership between Ron Hielkema a long term employee and partner Annie Wallace, and good friends Steve and Kate Norris. All bring considerable experience and commitment to providing a quality tourism activity. We say a thank you to Bill and Daphne for introducing us to Fiordland's wilderness, to its capacity for true adventure and to its ecological uniqueness and fragility. We recognise that we are privileged to be operating in such a unique area in terms of New Zealand's environmental heritage and that we have a particular responsibility to act as guardians to preserve the area both for its intrinsic worth and in the spirit of kaitiakitanga to ensure future generations can also experience its wilderness values.
