Lake Manapouri
LAKE MANAPOURI
NEW ZEALAND'S MOST BEAUTIFUL LAKE190 km of uninhabited shoreline and 34 islands, isolated North Arm, rugged Cathedral Peaks, Hurricane Passage, sandy beaches, clear water coves - an accessible wilderness carved for exploring by sea kayak.
Much underrated because of their close proximity to the fiords,
the glacial lake of Manapouri is a real guided or rental
alternative to the fiords for wilderness kayaking, camping and
exploring - no one lives out there, it's all National Park. Take
time out for one or more days on either of this beautiful lake,
clear, deep water, edged with sandy beaches, coves and cliffs,
designed with islands, glaciated valleys, intertwined ridges, fed
by waterfalls, pure mountain streams, cradled by classic Fiordland
native bush and mountain scenery.
EDUCATION GROUPS:
The lakes are a great option for student groups.
Our professional backgrounds of working with students in the
outdoors, means we have developed programmes for working on the
lakes with education groups from secondary schools on outdoor
camps, to polytechnic and university students completing sea
kayaking and guiding courses as part of their outdoor and physical
education programmes.
Generous discounts available for education groups.
FAMILY GROUPS:
The lakes are also particularly suited to family groups given the
accessibility of the beaches should the kayaking become too
challenging.
